Follow up from G1's 'Always on' State

Turns out my recent post regarding the G1 Android based phone being *always on* in regards to data transmission seems to be a US model thing only. Apparently T-Mobile got it correct the first time with the UK version and not the US version. A quick googling does not show much talk from T-Mobile on correcting this in the US version of the phone. I would not call such a thing a deal breaker, but it really does suck and is one of those warts that lessens my exuberance of buying one eventually.
